An unforgettable evening of rhythm, devotion, and gratitude
On Saturday, October 4th, 2025, Dharma Seva Trust proudly hosted Guru Vandana – A Mridanga Mela, a grand musical offering that left the audience spellbound. The event was a heartfelt tribute presented by the disciples of Vidwan Sri Sivasankar Reddy, celebrating the timeless bond between Guru and Shishya through the divine sound of the Mridangam.
A Celebration of Tradition & Talent
The Chennai Corporation Hall, Virugambakkam, came alive as over 300 participants – including children of different ages, youngsters, and senior disciples – came together in rhythm and devotion. The unique highlight of this mela was the way young talents were encouraged and honored on stage, giving them not just performance exposure but also the training to overcome stage fear.
At the same time, Gurus and senior artists were honored with due respect, acknowledging their lifelong contribution to the art form. This balance of reverence for teachers and encouragement for students created a truly holistic celebration of tradition.
The synchronization of so many mridangists on one stage created an electrifying atmosphere. The hall echoed with rhythmic complexity, subtle improvisations, and divine energy, reminding everyone why the mridangam holds a sacred place in Carnatic tradition.
The Spirit of Guru Vandana
The essence of the evening was Guru Bhakti. Every beat resounded as a humble salutation to the guiding light of the Guru. Vidwan Sri Sivasankar Reddy’s dedication to teaching and preserving the mridanga tradition shone through his disciples’ collective performance, a living testimony of his tireless efforts.
Community & Togetherness
The event was not only about music but also about community. Guests from all walks of life gathered, sharing the joy of tradition, culture, and spirituality. The live stream enabled rasikas across the globe to witness the grandeur, making it a truly international celebration.
A Feast for the Soul – and the Body
The evening concluded with annadhanam, as dinner was lovingly served to all attendees, in keeping with the Trust’s mission of service and togetherness.

DHARMA SEVA TRUST Commences Cultural & Service Initiatives in the Delhi Capital Region

Dharma Seva Trust (DST), headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu took a significant step towards promoting and preserving the values of Indian heritage by launching its first cultural outreach in the Delhi Capital Region. The event, held at the Sri Adi Sankaracharya Mandir in Noida, was organized in collaboration with the Sri Uttara Indraprastha Vaidiga Samaj, under the esteemed guidance and support of Shri Rajan Gupta, Chartered Accountant from Noida and Shri R M Sanjeevi, Chief Executive of DST.
This gathering marks the beginning of DST’s long-term mission in Delhi NCR, aimed at fostering Indian art, music, and culture, while extending support to underserved communities through grant mobilization and community engagement initiatives.
A central highlight of the event was the Annadhana (community meal) program, a testament to DST’s commitment to compassionate service. Each participant was served with care and respect, reaffirming the organization’s dedication to inclusivity and service.
This event is not only a significant milestone but also symbolizes the first step in what we envision as an ongoing journey—one that strives to create a profound impact on both heritage preservation and community empowerment. We extend an invitation to all well-wishers and supporters to join us in this sacred mission of Dharma, Seva, and Samskruti.

Extended Support for Education

Dharma Seva Trust (DST), Chennai, as part of its objectives, recently extended support to Ms. A Kowsalya, who is currently in her second year of the integrated B.Sc + M.Sc (Mathematics) program at Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. The Trust directly paid her second-year semester fees to the college on April 10, 2025. Kowsalya expressed her gratitude to Dr. V Raghavendra Sharma, Managing Trustee of DST Chennai, by handing over the fee receipt and thanking him for the Trust’s timely assistance, which has enabled her to continue her education along with her mother.
